The Annual General Meeting (AGM) must be held within 6 months of the end of the fiscal year.  This meeting takes place on the third Monday of September and currently takes place on Zoom.  At this meeting the CHHA-NSB president presents the Annual Report and the Financial Report to the members.  The members also elect the board members for coming 1 year period.  This meeting is open to current members, as well as anyone wishing to become a member, as well as the general public.  The AGM also features a key note speaker-always informative and enjoyable.

CHHA-NSB will hold this year’s AGM via Zoom on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 7:00 pm.  Please email your email address to us at chhansb475@gmail.com  with the Subject “AGM RSVP” if you are planning to attend.  You will receive further instructions from Hugh.  You will receive a Zoom invite.  Please click on the invite at the meeting time and you will be able to join the meeting.  If you are not familiar with Zoom, look at the instructions below or call us and we will be happy to help.

This year’s meeting will also feature guest speaker Glen Grigg, Ph.D (Clinical and Counselling Psychology), R.C.C (Registered Clinical Counsellor).  Glen is an adjunct professor of counselling psychology at the University of British Columbia.  He is a practising psychologist, clinical supervisor, and researcher.  Glen gets his ideas about hearing lost from personal experience as well as from a scientific and professional perspective.   His topic will be “Hearing Wellness:  A Key to Lifelong Mental and Physical Health”.  In his words:  Hearing gives us information and warnings vital to safety.  Hearing lets us share language, emotions, and ideas with other people. The sounds of music and nature bring beauty into our lives. When hearing is diminished or compromised there are layers of loss and frustration that can easily accumulate as chronic stress.  Reduced hearing makes us more vulnerable to life’s dangers;  we struggle to make connections with other people;  and a world of enjoyment can be lost to us. This presentation will call on the science of psychology to show how maintaining our connection to the auditory world is vital to regulating emotions, reducing anxiety, lowering stress, and sustaining deep relationships.

The meeting is open to the public and there are no restrictions on the number of participants.  The meeting will be conducted in English.  Please note that “Live Transcription/Closed Captioning”  will be enabled on the Zoom meeting.

Please make every effort to attend our AGM as it is with your participation that we keep you informed of our activities and renew our mandate to continue our work in the coming year.  Thank you.
