Sound intolerance is a good description for hyperacusis.  In this world of increasing noise, it becomes more and more challenging for one living with hyperacusis to deal with sounds that most people seem not to hear.  I thought I was the only one who had this problem but I have found that I am not alone.

One of the objectives for this topic on our CHHA North Shore Branch website is to help us with hyperacusis to cope.  I also believe that this should classified as in invisible handicap giving us the privilege to have quiet spaces when required.

This topic is in the beginning stages of development.  We would encourage feedback and discussion articles for posting on our website.
